Here we have a wide angle shot of a Highschool senior band playing. This is their first offical concert of the year. I positioned myself on the choir stands to take this shot. Not much else about this photo. I was out there because my younger sister is in the band and I figured it was a good chance to get alot of photos like this one.
I have a batch of photos I will be posting from very shortly I just have been just very busy at my new job. In a personal note I have been speaking with some of my coworkers which has further inspired me to do more photography and to further pursue my dreams.
Sorry guys, Lots of changes going on in the life atm. I got a new job, a vehicle, and I am trying to build some semblance of social life.
Here is a photo of my jeep, a 1992 Jeep Wrangler Sits in a snow covered field. At home off road the 1992 Wrangler expects to get some new upgrades in the near future that will raise it 6 inches to allow it to also get 35 inch tires. Seen here with the original Aluminum wheels and all season tires.
Normally you would think a post like this to start chronologically, start by looking backwards, then move forwards. I however don’t wish to look back, not anymore, not for a little bit. I tend to count myself as someone without regret, however I have realised that I have been dwelling in the past lately wallowing over my mistakes. I made a realisation today, well actually I have made allot lately. I realised first and foremost other then wallowing in my mistakes (albeit not in self pity) that I have been very crass and very rude towards people that I do care about, I have become far too jaded. I don’t go out enough, I don’t pursue the things I actually care about.
I have decided that moving forward I am going to push forward with a greater intensity. The things in my life that have been slowing me down are starting to clear up, I have a new job doing something that I believe I will enjoy more, I am buying a vehicle so I will have more freedom and be able to go more places. I am going to start focusing more on my photography. Study the basics and actually learn the technicalities of the science to the art that is photography. I am adding a new category to the blog, Photojournalism, All the old posts are being re categorized to add that category, and photos that are just photos are going to get categorized into the type of photo they are (landscape, still life, Photo Concepts, etc).
Thank you to the few who read, I feel bad for not posting enough so I’ll try to make it up to you. Expect more regular updates on the same day of the week, I’m thinking possibly Fridays. A new layout is also in the works.
This is a quick post I just wanted to say a few personal non-photo related things in. First off, I want to mention the fires in California. I am far and safe from them myself being that I live in Canada. However my heart goes out to those who are stuck in that mess. I personally wish that I could be down there, I feel that the sense of adventure inside of me is what is driving me towards photojournalism as a career. I know that the area is devistated and they probebly don’t need anymore people down there, however I feel that one more lens snapping photos of what is going on. I have been watching the news on CNN and such interspersed and the moving video is bad, but the still photos they flash has had a much greater impact. I tried to find the particular photo but was unable too. If anyone finds it please link me. It is a photo of a young woman standing with a garden hose. The look on her face is so packed with emotion.
Adian plays in the backyard with his toys in one of the last warm afternoons. I heard from my sister that she was going to take him outside to play. I grabbed my camera and went outside as well. He is adorable and It was a great time to experiment and practice. I worked really hard to get myself into the right position as much as possible to snap as good a photo as I could.
I’ve gotten a bit slower at posting photos, I think for the time being I am going to post just one photo a week for a little bit as I work through some things currently in my life. At least one of which is looking for a different job as well as purchasing a new vehicle.
Members of the Edmonton Airsoft Regiment get prepared for the operation Palliser Military Simulation. Airsoft is a sport where players dress up as military operators and compete as teams to complete objectives.
This Photo was shot right as I arrived at the event, this was a decent experience in getting the “shots in the bag”. I snapped off a couple of shots, and then realised I would not be able to take my camera with me in the field without destroying it in this weather. The game was great fun, Extreme heat caused heat stroke to set in for me however even while drinking a lot of water. Taught me a lot about myself and what to do for later situations. I hope to play an airsoft game soon as an “embedded photojournalist”.
People dancing to the live music at the warped 2006 tour. Heavy dust was kicked up from the event covering everything with a nice fine layer of grime.
Going to warped 2006 was a last minute thing, couple of friends and I picked up tickets online a week early and then jumped in the car and drove down the 3 hours to Calgary Alberta. This was one of the first events I had gone too with my camera. I was walking around the grounds taking photos of the people and what they where doing. This was snapped at one of the side stages when a mosh-pit broke out. I actually had to wait a few minutes to even click off the shots because it was so dusty I couldn’t see. The haze in the photo is the remaining dust. Sadly I did not get any photos of the heavy dust cloud with people moving in it. It also tends to be very hard to take a photo on the edge of a most-pit, without being crushed alive. Defiantly exciting, and i would gladly do it again.
